Radio Talk Show Host Ron Kauffman Selected by National Press Foundation as a 2007 Fellow for "Retirement Issues Seminar" in Washington, D.C.
Jupiter, FL (PRWEB) August 20, 2007 -- Ron Kauffman, the well-known producer and host of Senior LifeStyles Intelligent Talk Radio, has been selected as a Fellow to attend a national seminar on "Retirement Issues in the 21st Century." The seminar, hosted by the National Press Foundation gives journalists, especially those specializing in business and consumer issues, solid ground for future reporting across the panorama of retirement.
Kauffman, whose talk radio program begins its 5th year on-air in 2008, is dedicated to informing and educating baby boomers and seniors about many of the issues and challenges facing them in the areas of health, wealth and lifestyles. In 2006, Ron and his Senior LifeStyles program were recognized for his contributions to the senior community, and he was awarded the "Positive Images of Aging Award" by the 8-State Southeastern Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
Many of the topics discussed by Ron on his Senior LifeStyles radio programs have to do with aging and retirement, which is a good match for the upcoming seminar, as some of the topics to be discussed will include: the demographic tsunami, the changing nature of retirement, the health care challenges facing an aging America, and financial challenges being created by increasing longevity.
According to Program Assistant, Philip Javellana of the National Press Foundation, "The seminar program will look at retirement from both the personal and societal perspectives."
The "Retirement Issues in the 21st Century" seminar is scheduled to be held September 16-19, 2007, and in addition to the many print and broadcast journalists in attendance will feature guest lecturers including: Mark Iwry, nonresident Senior Fellow of the Brookings Institution, Elinor Ginzler of the Office of Social Impact, AARP and Dallas Salisbury, president & CEO of the Employee Benefit Research Institute.
"Retirement, " says Kauffman, who is also as Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), "is a major challenge facing our country and the world. The impact of millions of boomers and seniors exiting the U.S. workforce could have a devastating effect on our economy. And retirees age 65-plus are already becoming an enormous concern as America struggles to meet the current and future demands being placed on our failing health care system."
Senior LifeStyles is heard in South Florida on Clear Channel radio's talk station, AM 1230 WBZT and nationwide via Internet from WBZT.com. Kauffman's daily morning show, Boomer and Senior LifeStyles Update, airs during the 6 to 9 A.M. drive times Monday through Friday. His afternoon program can be heard from 3:05 to 4:00 p.m. (EST) every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
In addition to his radio show, Kauffman also writes a syndicated newspaper column, "Senior LifeStyles" that appears in western North & South Carolina in the Tryon Daily Bulletin.
Kauffman serves on the board of directors of Senior LifeStyles, is a volunteer with the Family and Children's Service in Palm Beach, is an active volunteer with the Palm Beach/Treasure Coast Area Agency on Aging, the Palm Beach County Alzheimer's Association and other South Florida charitable organizations. He and his wife Lisa, a geriatric care manager in private practice, live in Jupiter, Fl.
